Halloween 2019
I love Halloween! Since a young age I have always enjoyed
dressing up in costumes and going trick-or-treating. Now that I am an adult and
have children, I get to share my love for Halloween with my kiddos.
One of the things that has changed over the years is the
growing popularity of Trunk-or-Treats. Every year my kids attend three to four
different events and the amount of candy they receive is unreal. I literally
still have a big candy bowl full of candy that needs disposing of but can’t
bring myself to do it.
Like last year, the girls really enjoyed Trunk-or-Treating
at Powerline Church and Buffaloe Lanes (sponsored by Crosslink Community Church).
Each year these to organizations draw in hundreds of people to their events allowing
children to trick-or-treat in a safe environment.
This year finding the perfect costumes for the girl proved
to be difficult. We usually allow them to pick their own costumes, but for some
weird reason they wanted to dress alike.
So, this year we had two gypsy pirates
and boy did they look adorable. Side Note: It was comical hearing everyone
ask, “are you two twins?” and the girls respond in unison “nope.” We do hear it
all the time, so it wasn’t surprising to us.
One of the highlights this year was being able to take my
almost two-year-old niece trick-or-treating. At first, she felt overwhelmed
with the amount of people, but within a few minutes she realized she was
getting free candy and got into the flow of things.
I think she hoarded all the
lollipops because when checking her candy there was not a single sucker to be
found. I’m still not sure were her stash is, but I can guess her mom will be
finding them throughout the house within the next few days.
Halloween will forever be one of my favorite holidays, but I
think what brings me joy is seeing kids enjoy it as much as I do. I mean who
can go wrong with free candy and being able to dress up for a day?
